BOKOOR BAND

Bokoor (Cool) Band was first formed by John Collins in 1971 as the second
band to the Uhurus dance band. John Collins later reformed this group
in 1975 in James Town Accra with as number of musicians: including Jones
Attuqueyefio, Gifty Naa Dodoo, Brown Sugar, Sammy Brown, Gasper Kpani
Tettey Addy, Dana Banini, Bob Ajanka, Joe Kelly Junior, Jerry James Lartey,
Junior, John Jeano Othman and James Nanka-Bruce. This twelve piece guitar
band toured Ghana and Togo between 1977 and 1980 and released two extended
play single records and two commercial cassettes. Recordings
were done at the two-track Ghana Films studio in Accra in
1978, just four years before John Collins set up his own Bokoor Recording
Studio.
