Gallatin Celebrates Completion of New Home
Susanne Wofford, Dean of the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, welcomed alumni, parents, and members of the Gallatin community to a Spring Open House on Tuesday, April 21st. Held at the new Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts, the event celebrated the completion of Gallatin’s $27 million redesign and renovation, a project that began in the summer of 2007.
The Open House, which included student-led building tours, a reception, and remarks by NYU President John Sexton, was attended by the building’s architects, Polshek Partnership Architects, LLP, as well as artist Peter Halley, whose digitally-printed installations stretch 465 linear feet through the School’s five floors. In addition to the complete redesign of previous classrooms and offices, the renovation also includes a brand new Gallatin lobby, student lounge, dance rehearsal studio, performing arts theatre, and gallery spaces.
